At the allotment we often get offered some produce to try, a new variety perhaps, or something we don't grow ourselves. In return we share our own produce too. Our rhubarb is popular as it produces absolutely masses every year. One plot neighbour often gives us blackberries or plums that he's grown in abundance and we offer raspberries and apples to him as well as others. It's lovely to share.
We take home bags of our own veg and it gets shared with 2 lovely neighbours, my brother and our daughter too. It's so satisfying, although the offerings have been on the thin side this year. We've lost so much stuff. Even our runner beans have refused to flourish. We might have to rethink what we grow next year.....

A quick update on my cards for the Hospice shop....I'm off to drop in another 17 today making a total of 316 so far this year. The little knitting themed cards always do well but take longer to make so I can only make a couple in every batch. I will soon need to begin the Christmas cards 🤯🎄🎅I really hope the weather cools soon so that I can begin them......
Is it too soon to think about Christmas? 🤔

It's a barren year for the garden, my runner beans have just started flowering, I've not much hope.

DeleteJust got in from Exercise Group with small bundle of runner beans and some windfall cooking apples - lovely. Last week I took courgettes and tomatoes - we do this every Autumn - it's good to swap!

ReplyDeleteMy daily life is much different - I'm in the middle of the US - and my husband and I retired early a couple of years ago. I also sell this and that on ebay but haven't committed much time to it this year and should get restarted. I do love it when something sells and I'm all motivated then :)

DeleteWe are picking loads of tomatoes and only have 4 pots. They aren't huge but very tasty. Your knitting cards are stunning, you are so clever. I've had a pottering day today, but managed to do all the ironing. Granny duties tomorrow, she wants to go to TK Maxx, so that won't be cheap. Take care. Xx

DeleteDo you have to do the 'mini knitting' that is on the needles? Either way they are absolutely lovely cards, and you are doing so well with them.
ReplyDeleteI do like the look of the bits of knitting on the needles so actually knit the bits on actual proper needles and then transfer it to the cocktail sticks. It is a bit fiddly....

DeleteThat's wonderful how well your cards are selling. Oh no Christmas! However I wouldn't mind some chilly weather never thought I would say that. Yesterday my neighbour left two cucumbers and a bag of cherry tomatoes from his allotment for us by our front door and a friend at our Singing for Fun group brought me some French beans. We have nothing much to swap so their kindness is much appreciated. Hope you can stay as cool as possible. Regards Sue H
