I have spent the last week catching up with chores, de-stressing and reading.....a LOT !
When I ordered Milly's latest book from the library, I expected a long wait but it came in pretty quickly. Having just finished the Heidi Swain which Gill had sent me, it came at the opportune moment for a Christmas read. The weather was foul; wet, wild and windy so it wasn't too much of a stretch to imagine it was snow falling, and to get into the bones of this book. Oh I LOVED it! If you get the chance, please do give it a go. It drew me in to the characters in the first few pages and kept me gripped right to the end. And a very satisfying end it was too 😊
The birthday cards too had almost sold out so the weekend has been spent making as many as I could during the daylight hours. It gets so dark now and working at the kitchen table makes matching colours a little trickier than during the brighter days of Spring and Summer.
However, I now have another batch to drop off tomorrow making a total of 400 since March this year. Woohoo! 😍

Edit:
Samples for anyone interested 😉
Thanks so much for popping in. Do stay safe and well wherever you happen to be,
Angie 💗

I am almost finished the Christmas gift making, but need to purchase another jigsaw for Harvey. They keep him busy during the cold dark days of the winter.
ReplyDeleteLovely cards as usual.
God bless.
I love a good jigsaw too. You have reminded me that I still have 3 good ones to complete this Winter 😊
DeleteYou've been busy reading! I haven't read much lately.
ReplyDeleteI just love your cards! They are so well made.
I do love a good book, Bless, one that transports me to another world or place in time.
DeleteThank you for your compliment on my card making. I do appreciate it as I often feel 'imposter syndrome' 🫣
Your cards are lovely ... as usual, and yay, you have managed to get to your target of 400 ... WELL DONE!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't started any Christmas reading yet, but I was sat looking at my Christmas books the other day, thinking that the time is almost here to begin. It is much easier to get into the right frame of mind with a book if you are reading it in the right season and the right weather isn't it.
Absolutely right, Sue, I love to read Christmassy books snuggled under a blanket with a hot drink to hand or tucked up in a warm bed before sleeping. I actually have 3 more Christmassy reads to go :)
DeleteThank you for the praise ! I get a lovely boost of confidence when I can see that my cards have disappeared from the basket. I'll keep going as long as I'm physically able ;)
Your cards are beautiful. I haven't read that Amanda James, so googled it and have ordered from Amazon, which was the cheapest I found. Have bought most of Iris's Christmas presents and having sorted out the drawer of doom under the spare room bed have found enough cards and wrapping paper for the next 3 years. And we are invited to daughter's, so all I have to cook is a ham. Take care. Xx
ReplyDeleteThe drawer of doom! lol...I like it ! Oh well done for being so organised, Gill, I still have gifts to buy and have no clue what to get :0/ We are going to our daughter's on the big day, which will be lovely, but it's open house here on Boxing Day. I have no idea how many can come, potentially up to 8 so I will be putting on a hot buffet with lots of salad stuff too. Anyone coming after work will get the leftovers plus a bit of freshly cooked party food. I just hope that electricity will be discounted on that day!
DeleteStay warm xx
Thank you for the book selections, Angie. I don't specifically choose certain books for Christmas reading but do like to have something to pick up in a spare moment. Your December cards are lovely. Really good for someone with a birthday near to Christmas but who still wants to keep their day special. All of your cards seem to be selling well for the hospice, they are all lovely.
ReplyDeleteHope this week is kind to you both x
