Random Acts of Kindness

I do try to help people whenever I can and today, whilst trying to park in the village, I got the opportunity to help several people.  The dratted machine on the car park often plays up and the instructions for use are far from clear.  Today it threw a wobbly when people tried to pay by card.  It just didn't want to know and displayed an error message every time.  I ended up helping several people to pay with cash and one elderly chap (listen to me aged 75!) only had a card on him so I paid his £1.60 due for an hour's parking out of the change in my glovebox.

I did notice that he was parked next to me in a stonking new car with a private number plate so I hope he will 'pay it forward' and help someone else 🤔

-----------------

I dropped another batch of cards into the Hospice shop too; 126 so far. There were just 5 left again.  Now that I feel a little better, I can crack on and make more for them.  The manageress says that customers are now coming in asking for them specially👍

Thanks so much for popping in.  Stay safe and well wherever you happen to be,

Angie 💓

  1. Your cards are so beautiful, I'm not surprised people are asking for them. We are just back from a week in France, haven't been since pre- Covid. Had a great time, weather was good, but the prices of everything is so high. Eating out was quite cheap, especially at lunchtime. Although I have to say the French idea of a decent holiday home and mine were somewhat different! Xx

    1. I'm so happy to hear that you had a lovely holiday, Gill. What was wrong with the holiday home? Too basic? xx

  2. That was so kind of you to help those others with their parking. Your cards are beautiful and donating them to the charity shop is another act of kindness.

  3. Beautiful cards, I think most people would rather buy one than a mass produced one made in a Chinese factory

    1. Thank you :) I try to make them a little different from the 'run of the mill' ones in shops and no two are exactly alike.

  4. Fame and recognition! It's a lovely thought that people come in for your cards, and you are helping your hospice.
Those parking meters! I daren't say more! But wonderful you were able to help.

    1. It's doing wonders for my self esteem, Kirsten, as well as giving me a purpose in life!
Re the parking meters; they are desperate to get people to pay by card to save having to empty the machines and yet this particular meter refused to handle them! Cash is still king in my view :)

There's a meter in town that hasn't worked for 5 years!

    1. 5 years?? what?? Our particular meter is well attended by wardens and they relish giving tickets out :/ I've spoken to them on a number of occasions and they can't wait to catch someone out and issue a fine. The devils....

  6. Oh why is car parking so difficult now? Also very expensive. Everywhere has different systems and regulations too. Our small seaside town has so many variations and times allowed. It even differs from street to street grr! So wonderful your cards are doing well, great for you that your crafting is valued and makes money for your local Hospice. Regards Sue H

    1. Parking in your town must be annoying. I never trust paying by card as there is so much to go wrong!

  7. Your cards are lovely so it's no surprise that people are starting to come in to ask for them. You are doing well raising funds for the Hospice. Parking machines are a law unto themselves aren't they. The ones in Morecambe are now card only, as they kept getting broken into and all the cash taken. :-(

    1. Oh no! I can see why they want card payments but I just don't trust the system one iota.

  8. Once again your cards are so lovely, and it is easy to see why they are so popular at the charity shop.
Those meters are such a pain when they don't work properly and your random acts of kindness may have made a big difference to someone. I can imagine someone getting home and ranting about their day but saying.. . "but there was this lovely lady who helped me with the car parking machine...."
