I saw the following piece on Facebook recently. Not sure who wrote it, but it made me think. Does it resonate with you?
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Here are the 3 Hard Truths and 7 Rules I’ve learned:
The Truths:
Your kids can’t be your everything. They are busy surviving their own lives. They love you, but they can’t fill your loneliness. That’s your job.
Your health is not guaranteed. When you’re young, your body is a given. When you’re old, it’s a project. Take care of it.
No one is coming to save you. Financial dignity is up to you. Even small savings equal freedom.
The 7 Rules for Age 70+:
Pay your future self. You owe yourself comfort.
Treat your body like a best friend. Walk. Stretch. Hydrate.
Build your own joy. Don't wait for an invitation to be happy.
Don't surrender to "old." Strength draws people in; complaints push them away.
Release yesterday. It’s already done. Let it go.
Guard your peace. Not every fight is worth your energy.
Learn one new thing daily. Curiosity is the anti-aging serum for the brain.
The verdict? You have two choices: Shrink into the shadows or step into the light. I choose the light. I might be older, but I’m not done yet. Not even close.

Stay safe and well, dear friends, wherever you happen to be,

Very true.
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely post and you look fabulous. Bun
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bun, but to be honest the photo was taken around 8 years ago when I was 68 . I had just had my hair cut and was in a flattering light! I'm a little more world weary now ...lol...
DeleteA very true post. You can only rely on yourself to keep healthy both in mind and body. I'm not a joiner in, but have decided in the New Year to go to a WI meeting. I wonder how long it will be before Iris doesn't want to come to ours, but that's life.Have posted all my cards now and just waiting on 2 Royal Mail parcels to arrive tomorrow, it means one of us will have to stay in. Take care. Xx
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a joiner in either, Gill, so applaud your decision to go to WI. I hope you enjoy it. Iris must love coming to see you and I have to say that although my grandchildren are now 18 and 21 they still love to come when they can. It's just not as often as when they were little. Enjoy having her every moment you can :)
