Once again, a big thank you to everyone who has responded to my last 2 posts. I'm soaking up the suggestions like a sponge and will work my way through them until I find what works for me. I tried ringing the GP this morning and got nowhere, so Gray drove me down to the surgery ( in pouring rain!) where I spoke to the receptionist and explained the problem with the prescription and my symptoms. I asked whether my last blood test included tests for B12 and Folate deficiency as I couldn't tell from the App and she said no, it didn't. She completed an online form for me (for triage) and called me back around an hour later telling me to go for another blood test which I had to book myself online. As luck would have it, there was just one slot left for Friday afternoon which I snapped up. Sometimes you have to wait for 2 weeks for a blood test so I count myself lucky. It will therefore be about a week before I know any more 😞 Meanwhile, I now have a nasty metallic taste in my mouth to deal with as well....

Feeling very sorry for myself, I decided to buy a couple of cheap books for my Amazon Fire tablet and was pleasantly surprised to find that I still had a £6 credit on my account that I had forgotten about. I splashed out on 2 books @ 99p each, both from favourite authors; Milly Johnson and Trisha Ashley. Trisha's book is her new one, The Christmas Retreat, which I have on order from the library so I can cancel the library reservation and let someone else have it 😀 And I still have credit left on my Amazon account 😊

The village Christmas light switch on was lovely, if wildly chaotic. We didn't realise that so many people actually lived in the village! Or perhaps they didn't. After all, 6 of our own family members joined us to watch the fireworks and afterwards we all piled in to the pub (which was rammed to the doors) We did manage to find a small table and a few extra chairs. Hot turkey cobs were quickly ordered along with mulled wine and beer, and lemonade for me (I would have loved a mulled wine 😔 )
Afterwards, we walked up the hill back home, like a slightly tipsy crocodile, where I made everyone hot chocolate. It was great !
Have you had a lights switch on near you?

Thanks for popping in. Stay safe and well wherever you happen to be,
Angie 💗

I'm sorry you are going through this and hope the blood tests help resolve the situation.
ReplyDeleteThank you e x
DeleteReally hope the blood test shows what's happening - frustrating not knowing.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have lights and fireworks so local to you, sounds like fun . Miles to anything like that here.
Thanks, Sue. Yes, the fireworks were lovely and village looked so very festive. We are lucky.
DeleteAt least you got a quick appointment for your blood test. Its done nothing but rain here, so we didn't get to the Christmas light switch on. We picked Iris up from school, sausage, mash and baked beans for tea. Fortunately she eats almost anything. Then Mummy came for tea too bringing their newish foster baby. Its taken some time to get this far, we had to be interviewed too. So I've had baby snuggles and he is adorable, now weighs 4lbs 10oz, only 3lb at birth! A sad start to life but he is being very loved at theirs. Have you read Marcia Willett, lots of her books are set around Dartmouth. Hope you feel better soon. Hugs Xx
ReplyDeleteOh Gill! How lovely! Iris has such good taste, bless her, and what a lovely daughter to foster a baby. I have so much admiration for foster parents and he's doing well by the sound of it. Enjoy your snuggles :)
DeleteNo...I haven't read Marcia Willett at all but I have some credit left with Amazon so will check her out. Thank you for the tip. We seem to have very similar tastes in books! Have a great weekend xx
I am really sorry to hear about the problems you are having with your tongue. It must be very miserable for you not to be able to enjoy your food or that mulled wine after the Christmas light switch on. I hope the blood test will help find a solution and that you are able to get the meds you need. Enjoy the books on your tablet and I wish you a better week and start to December. Take care, Angie x
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Beverley x
DeleteSo glad your gp surgery was quick and responsive and you've got an early blood test appt.
ReplyDeleteI indulged in The Christmas Retreat last month, e-book when it came out. She's formulaic but I don't care - such a way with words, she paints great word-pictures and I want to be IN the stories! I hope it will take your mind off your tongue.
I'm about to begin The Christmas Retreat and looking forward to it. I've read every single book by Trisha Ashley. I do like her style of writing and her sense of humour :)
DeleteThank goodness you managed to nab that last appointment, fingers crossed this new blood test will get you some answers. Brilliant that you have two new books AND more credit for more ... you can never have too much to read. :-)
ReplyDeleteOur Christmas light switch on was last week, but the bigger event in our little town is the Victorian Festival, which was last night and tonight, we are going tonight, as last night the rain was horrendous and we didn't fancy catching a cold for Christmas.
I bet the Victorian Festival was really lovely. I look forward to any event like these :)
DeleteI'm glad you were able to get an appointment for the blood test so quickly. The tree lighting ceremony sounds nice. I've never been to one.
