Reducing me to tears....in more ways than one !

When I dropped off my latest batch of cards at the Hospice shop this morning (220 in total now) I  was surprised to be handed an envelope.  It contained a beautiful thank you card from the staff at the shop..

The handwritten messages reduced me to tears.  It was so kind of them and I got a lovely hug from the young manageress too.  She is always so friendly and smiling that I look forward to going in every time 😊
There was just one...yes, ONE ! card left in the basket so I was in the nick of time.  I don't want customer interest to wane simply because the basket is empty.  Must get a wriggle on !

When I got home, I grabbed my bags and stepped out of my car, stood up, and felt myself falling instantly.  I landed with a bang, firstly on my right knee, then hitting my head on the tarmac , breaking my glasses on impact 😱

I was reduced to tears for the second time in an hour 🥲 My knee took the biggest impact.   Luckily I was wearing jeans....

Poor Graham got a shock when he answered the door to find my head and hand covered in blood.  Don't head wounds bleed profusely! It wasn't actually too bad, more of a scrape than a cut.  My hands are scraped and bruised though.  They do say that pride comes before a fall 🙄....

Thanks so much for popping in.  Stay safe wherever you happen to be,

Angie 💓

  1. Oh Angie, i am SO sorry about the fall. Been there, done that. But I am thrilled at the lovely response from the Hospice Shop. You are a real part of the important work they are doing to support families through the hardest times. Once I'm free of grandparent duty I'll pop a few more bits in the post

    1. Thank you so much for your empathy, Ang, it was, indeed a shock to the system!
I am so happy that my card project is working for the Hospice and I will carry on as long as I possibly can. Thank you too for the offer of more bits. Anything would be welcome :) x

  2. Oh gosh, two completely different kinds of tears. Your poor face and knee, these little accidents just seem to come from nowhere don't they. What a lovely card to receive from the staff at the hospice and hospice shop, your support for them obviously means so much. Well done, it's nice to be appreciated isn't it. xx

Of course while you are resting that sore knee you could be making some more cards. ;-)

    1. It was indeed really lovely for my donations to be acknowledged and appreciated by them. Once my head had stopped thumping and my knee throbbing, I did make a few cards, I must confess, although I had to put several plasters on the cuts and scrapes on my hands to protect my work ;0)
Today though, I do have a bit of a black eye too :0/

  4. I'm so sorry to read about your fall! So sorry that your glasses got broken, too. At least you didn't break any bones. But a fall like that knocks the breath out of you, doesn't it? Rest and take it easy for the next day or two.
How lovely to receive a card of appreciation from the staff at the hospice shop. Your handmade cards have raised a lot of money for them!

  6. Oh bless you, tears for happiness from a caring gesture to tears from shock and injury from your fall. Head wounds always bleed profusely don't they? Hope you are on the mend now. That was a lovely thing to do from the staff at the Hospice shop, so great for you to know how much you are appreciated. Take care Sue H

  7. A lovely thank you card from the hospice shop. Your kindness has rippled out far beyond making the cards in the first place. Happy tears of appreciation there. 😊
Oh dear! That was a nasty fall and quite a shock. I hope the bruising goes quickly and that your recovery is swift. Take care and have a restful weekend x

  8. What a lovely gesture from the hospice, it’s always nice to feel appreciated. I seem to remember that another shop you used to donate cards to was less than appreciative of your efforts, so this must feel doubly satisfactory! Well done, and hope your injuries heal well.

    1. Indeed, Karen, one of the other charity shops just dropped them in a box of tat at floor level, so they took ages to sell. This time, they are right beside the till and sell faster than I can make them. It feels lovely to be raising decent money for them.
And thank you for your good wishes x
