Am I normal? Summer is here! Relaxing.....

Summer is on it's way. Tomorrow is the first day of meteorological Summer and the roses are out 😀

----------------

I was really pleased to find Tom Hindle's latest book just sitting lonely on a shelf in the library so I snagged it for my next read.  Set in an airship this time.....

-------------------

I spotted this article in Computeractive magazine. What the heck? I'm fed up with technology and don't care if it labels me as weird.  I don't walk around holding my phone, not on the street, on a bus, on a train....I AM ME ! I AM NORMAL ! In my view, the people who walk around scrolling Insta, TikTok, messages, emails etc instead of interacting with their kids, watching the traffic, seeing the world around them...THEY are the weird ones.

Anyone agree??

------------------

Another batch of cards was dropped off at the Hospice shop yesterday:  103 so far.

A sample below.....

Graham has gone to the allotment this morning so I am FREE to do what I like ie tidy up, make the beds, wash up, and then CRAFT !  my favourite way of unwinding.

What are you doing today?

Thanks so much for popping in.  Stay safe and well wherever you happen to be,

Angie 💗

  1. Apparently having a phone in hand all the time is turning people into zombies and this is a plot by 'them' to change the world order!
Read that on a blog by someone who was once rational!

    1. Good grief.... previously rational people seem to have become very weird....

  2. We often comment when out about the number of people distracted by their phones, not paying attention to everything around them.

    1. Yes, it's a wonder that more people don't get run over whilst walking!

  3. Those of us not walking down the street scrolling on our phones frequently have to swerve to watch the ones that are. There are going to be a lot of neck problems for people in the future if they insist on looking down all the time.
I love to sit 'in the moment', whether it be in a café, on a bench in the park or when I have time whilst waiting for an appointment. People watching in real life is so much better than watching the 'little people' on our screens.

    1. Yes, Sue, it's officially called 'tech neck' I think. I know that my Son-in-Law and Grandchildren are going to suffer in the future with neck problems. I rarely see them with their heads held high.
I love people watching too. All of life is there! It can be fascinating.

    2. I meant to add to my comment, that I love this latest batch of your cards. The knitting and the lilies ones especially, they will all be snapped up. xx

    3. Thank you , Sue, it's great to get feedback on them 😀 The two Gnome cards sold before I even left the shop and two knitting cards as well as three lily ones sold pretty quickly too

  4. I so agree about nearly being mown down by phone users-today on my way back from the shop I refused to step onto the road to allow a father and daughter to walk side by side past me as the child was FaceTiming her mother as they were walking!! What a way to teach our children about how to behave in public! Catriona

    1. That is unbelievably sad, Catriona. I sometimes have to stand aside to let 'phone addicts' pass me on the street. Annoying to say the least.

  5. I do walk around with my phone but only when I am using MAPS.ME to find an address in a strange town. With regards to the zombies I now just stand there and it does make them stop, it is better if I have my shopping trolly to put in front, I am fed up walking round them.

    1. Holding a phone whilst reading a map is perfectly understandable, Moira. Scrolling social media...well...there's a time and a place isn't there. Not in the street...lol... Good for you for standing your ground.

  6. People who moan about their phones being snatched shouldn't walk down the street yakking into it. Mine stays firmly in my bag unless I need maps/address. I've done some gardening, moved a buddleia from the raised bed, it was being a thug! OH says it looks sick, but it has 2 chances. Had a trip to the garden centre to get houseplant compost and a shallow round clay pot. We treated ourselves to an ice-cream whilst there, £3.99 each!!! Xx

    1. I agree.
It's just the right weather for gardening isn't it, Gill, not too hot, not too cold :) Gosh £3.99 for an ice cream? wow!

  7. Our roses are lovely at the moment too. I must be mad then because I too don't sit all the time scrolling or looking at my phone. I often forget to take it out with me! Today we went over to see our youngest son about an hour away, lovely ride through countryside, and he treated us to a delicious meal in a country pub. It was splendid. I hope you enjoy your crafting, your cards are very good and how great they earn some income for your local hospice. Regards Sue H

  8. Before I retired I used to catch the train to and from work. I was the only one with a book, everyone else staring at their devices. Even getting off the train they were still glued to their screens, amazing they didn't fall in the gap between the train and platform. I'm sure it happened, I just never witnessed it myself! 1. I would much rather read a physical book too, Liz, and it is certainly dangerous to walk around not paying attention whilst in a train station!

  9. Such lovely cards!
Often, when I am in a waiting room at the doctor's office or the vet's clinic, I am the only one with a physical book to read. But, my cell phone is convenient to have when I want to text my daughter to let her know I've made it to my destination, etc.

  10. I love the special little touches on your cards, like the ladybird and the beaded kntting needles. I also prefer a physical copy of a book to read rather than read it on a tablet or phone.

Yes, I much prefer a real book too. I can get into the story much more easily.
