Now don't get too excited but I've just got my Christmas bonus from the government, a whole £10...... The sum hasn't changed in years. My mum and dad used to get the same amount and dad would have been 110 years old this year! Of course, it's not to be sniffed at. I joke about it because we are not desperate for money but some people are and it made me think about how I can do more to help others. I already shop at charity shops, as you know, as well as donate unwanted items to them but I want to do more.
With my own £10 (Gray has one too) I have:
- Bought a box of biscuits to take to the lovely, friendly staff and volunteers at my favourite Hospice charity shop. They can have a biscuit with their coffee in the run up to Christmas,
- Taken out a lottery subscription of £1 a week for the charity Headway via our local council website. Headway get a proportion of sales and local causes also get a proportion. I can pay for a chunk of 5 weeks at a time so am not totally committed if we have a difficult month financially,
- The remaining amount of £2.75 will be used to buy treats for the food bank trolley
Your generosity of spirit instantaneously rewarded, I like that sort of coincidence. What lovely things you have chosen to do with your ten pounds. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sue, and I'm going to do something similar with the £10.50 from my eBay sale too xx
DeleteWhat lovely things you have chosen to do with your £10, and you were rewarded for it. I split mine between the Salvation Army and our local food bank. Xx
ReplyDeleteThey are both great causes, Gill, and it's so kind of you to donate your bonus too. Have a wonderful Christmas xx
DeleteLovely post to read Angie and it was so very thoughtful of you ❤️ Sadly, there are so many people who are struggling and I'm a great believer in paying it forward 🙏 Linda in Oz
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda. I do so agree that too many people are struggling right now. It's difficult to know how to help, isn't it. We can only do our best and every little bit counts. Have a wonderful Christmas Linda ❤️
DeleteThanks Angie, you too ❤️🎄
DeleteThat was a very generous thing to do, to donate your £10 and it can't be a mere coincidence that you made a sale for just over that amount at the same time! And how lovely that you are considering spending that money from the sale in the same manner! You have a kind and generous heart.
ReplyDeleteBless, I feel it's the least I can do to help as so many people are in need right now. I just wish I could do more.
DeleteHave a wonderful Christmas 🎄
