Watch this! And another book read.....

The weather has not been conducive to sitting (or walking) in the sunshine at all this last week, as it's been cold and it's now very wet too.  We even had hail on Sunday, but I've been trying to move more to increase my step count since I bought my bargain smartwatch.    I've discovered that I actually do around 5,000 steps in a day when I'm just doing housework 😀

Don't worry about the step count shown in the photo though as I had taken the watch off to have a shower and forgot to put it back on until 9.30am!......

We're trying to eat a greater variety of food, especially low fat, non UPF foods but it can be a bit tricky at times as I still need to watch the food budget very carefully.  My tongue is still causing me problems but I'm carrying on with the D3 tablets in the hope that they will help replenish my lack of the vitamin. .....

My B12 levels are now fine but, on Doctor's orders, I'm still taking a multivitamin as well. In the 7 weeks I've been taking the D3, I've noticed that my energy levels have picked up.  I'm nowhere near as tired during the day,  I can walk steadily (rather than a bit wobbly) and my sleep patterns have improved tremendously.  I used to be lucky to get 5 hours a night and sometimes much less than that so the readings on my smartwatch were a pleasant surprise....

At least something is going right at last!

-------------------

I've been doing lots of reading to relax and I've discovered a new (to me) author via Vivi's U-Tube book reviews (What Vivi Did Next).

Rachel McLean's female detective is a Birmingham lass who has been sent to Dorset and thrown in the deep end with a murder.  It's written in a style I enjoy and is the first in a whole series of books.  I've just reserved the second book from the library 👍

Has anyone else tried this one?

Right-o.... I'm off to make a quiche for tea using a tortilla wrap instead of pastry for the crust.  We have a home grown leek, some cheese and eggs😁 some home grown lettuce and supermarket cherry tomatoes to go with it.  Oh...and a leftover cooked jacket potato which I can cut into wedges and reheat in the airfryer.  No waste!

Thanks for popping in.  Do stay safe and well wherever you happen to be,

Angie 💗

    1. I've just finished it and really enjoyed it. The characters are mainly likeable, the settings interesting too so I'm looking forward to reading them all in order now 😀

  2. I haven't read any of this authors books but thank you for the recommendation. I think I might enjoy her stories.
Your sleep pattern is looking good on your Smart watch and I hope the Vit D and multi vit will also help. Enjoy the rest of your week, Angie.

  3. Such good news about all the health improvements.
I wish I could get into Rachel McCleans books as there are so many but I read the first and tried others and for some reason just didn't and I can't remember why!

    1. I wasn't sure I would like it, Sue, but it quickly pulled me in. I intend to try to read all her books in the order they were written as there will be a common thread throughout.

  4. I've read some of hers, normally picked up in charity shops or boot sales. Pleased the vitamins are giving you some of your oomph back. I think what we eat also helps with our well being. I'm going to have a glass or two of wine tonight after a round 4-5 hour trip to my best friend's funeral. OH and daughter came with me and it was a lovely service. Lizz was Natalie's Godmum. We had known each other for 68 years, meeting on our first day at infant's school. Take care. Xx

    1. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, Gill. We don't get many lifetime friends so they are extra precious. I met my best friend at school when we were 12 and are still in touch 64 years on.

Oh how I would love a glass of red wine but it makes my tongue sore now, must be the Tannin because sometimes strong tea does the same thing :(
      Have a great week xx

  7. So glad you are feeling better. Well done on the step count, I try to walk at least 5000 steps outdoors but I must remember to record my indoor count daily, that is amazing what you clocked up doing housework! Regards Sue H

    1. I was amazed at the indoor step count, Sue, especially as we don't have stairs but I need to add a few more outdoor steps!

  8. I'm glad you are feeling so much better now, and if you carry on hopefully things will improve even more. I do love a quick quiche made with a tortilla base, they are so quick and easy to do aren't they. Your filling ideas sound just perfect ... and healthy too. :-)

    1. Thanks, Sue. If I can just get rid of my sore tongue and mouth I will feel so much better altogether. I really don't know how chemo patients can bear it. Taste is affected and I'm constantly aware of a tingling sensation somewhere in my mouth. It's either the tip or sides of the tongue, roof of my mouth, lips, cheeks and now the back of the tongue and throat too. It changes on a daily basis. It's so weird...
Yes, the quiche is so quick to assemble and then cook in my air fryer and any leftover quiche is great cold next day, isn't it :)

      Your food always tempts me!
