More Bargain Buys Yesterday.....

Yesterday (Thursday) was another wet day but I wanted to drop some more cards off at the shop; another 17 to make a total of 69 this year.  Again, just 3 were left in the basket so I was in the nick of time.

I popped into Boots for some soap and got these free with my loyalty points, saving £2.12.....

In the charity shop I spotted a Marian Keyes hardback for just £1 which just had to come home with me.  I have since discovered that it's on sale in Sainsbury's at £11.00 ! Wow, quite a bargain!

We were both feeling the cold and visited Greggs for a hot drink.  We shared an egg mayo sandwich and spicy wedges too, and Gray got a coffee all for £5.  My tea was FREE with the Confused.com App.  All in all a cheap lunch.....

However, we were really glad to get home to the warmth of the house, despite only having been out for 90 minutes 😕

-----------

Stay safe everyone,

Angie 💗

  1. Very wet, grey and cold here in Belper. I only ventured out to B&M for a pack of pillow protectors and was soon back home. Sheva cat has been out once and has left a trail of cat prints from the back door into the lounge - I've given up mopping. That book was a bargain. Xx

  2. Right now we are enjoying some lovely weather, but that will change next week. Cold and snow return.

    God bless.

  4. Gosh that was a great buy of the book. Your lunch looked tasty. The first weather here in East Sussex has been good for the last two days with actual blue skies and sunshine - holding my breath! The Hamnet film was so so sad, beautifully filmed and wonderfully acted but heart wrenching. I felt emotionally drained afterwards. One poor lady in the audience was sobbing and so distraught she and her husband (I guess he was) got up and left in a particularly tragic scene. I said to my husband it was not entertainment, more a master class in grief. At least Spoons was full of life and people having a good time and we got one of our favourite booth type tables and had a delicious meal after the film. I would find it hard to recommend this film as so sad. Regards Sue H

    1. I couldn't believe it when I saw the exact same book on Sainsbury's shelves at £11 ! It's the first Marian Keyes book I've picked up in a while so I'm looking forward to reading it.
Re Hamnet: it doesn't sound like I would enjoy the film. I want to be cheered not saddened and that poor woman in the audience....
Thank you for sharing your experience, Sue, I think I'll give the film a miss. Glad you had a lovely meal afterwards :) xx

  6. You can't beat a few freebies and a nice lunch out can you. I love the Greggs App, especially while we have been visiting twice weekly Mum over the past two years and stopping at the motorway services for a break on the way home. We rack up a lot of claimable free coffees, pastries and 'sweet treats'. That book was an amazing bargain, well spotted.

    1. Yes, Sue, the Greggs App is very useful to have. I occasionally enjoy the vegan sausage rolls too. Oh ...and the apple danish cakes 😋
