Spending The Last Points & Mail Problems

We managed to get the car out at last on Friday, so decided to visit Sainsbury's and spend the last of the Nectar points on stocking up the protein while we could.  This is what we bought....

I can't find the receipt πŸ˜• but it came to a total of £18.32
Gray spent his £12.50 Nectar points plus £5.82 cash
Updated totals below.....

 Nectar card balance Nil

Graham's Nectar card Nil

Boots card loyalty points £4.45

Cash Nil

 Extra cash spent : £6.73

I don't feel that I've done very well this January with the food shopping.  The snow has impeded progress!  I know we have eaten well so far and we still have enough food to eat well for at least another week but I know I could have done much better.  Lack of exercise has made us sluggish and we have been snacking out of boredom.
Oh well... it is what it is....

------------

Thank you all for your birthday wishes for Graham on Friday 😊 We have still not had post so the poor man had just ONE birthday card which had been pushed through the door, and a gift card from me for a spend at the local nurseries.  He wasn't upset.  He knows that several cards have been stuck in the mail system for a week now and our daughter and granddaughter will be visiting today if the roads have cleared a bit.  We are looking forward to some company!

That's all for now.  Thanks so much for popping in.  Stay warm and safe wherever you happen to be,

  1. Don't be so hard on yourself, you've done really well with your January spend up to now. You've shown how it's possible to shop carefully and make good use of Nectar points etc. Imagine what it would be like if you took your finger off the pulse and just spent willy-nilly. Being aware of how much we spend whether we have a 'bad' week or a 'good' week is more than half the battle.

    1. Thank you for your encouragement, Sue, sometimes circumstances throw us a curve ball don't they. I think the bad weather, lack of company and exercise just made me feel disheartened. Thank you :)

  2. I, too, think you did well. Your goal was to make the nectar points and the cash you had last for as long as you possibly could and it looks like you've managed to make it last for almost half the month. Which seems good to me. Do you have a budget/spending plan for the rest of January?

    1. That is true, thank you Bless x
Yes, I only intend to spend our usual £55 per week max for the next two weeks. Let's see if I can pick myself up and DO this !
Thank you for your encouragement x

  3. I think you have done well so far. I find I crave more carbs this sort of weather and have eaten more since Christmas, I must get back to better eating. I hope you have a lovely time with your daughter and granddaughter visiting. Regards Sue H

    1. It's definitely carbs weather, isn't it, but it makes me so sluggish and disheartened with everything. Thank you so much for your encouragement Sue.
