A Lovely Surprise, Treats and Daffs....

Rain, rain & more rain has been the order of the days for ages now.  Today is Friday and it's still wet and wild here.  Along with most of the population, and many fellow bloggers, I have been feeling the effects of winter bluesπŸ˜” A few days ago the postie rang the doorbell and handed me a small package.  Inside were some beautiful hand knitted socks !  They have been sent to me by Marlene of Poppy's Patchwork and they are gorgeous.  A perfect fit and so warm, and they are the very first pair I have ever owned πŸ˜€

Inside the package there were also two sachets of my favourite hot chocolate.....

...and some packets of seed....

We have never grown this variety of tomato so it will be lovely to see how they turn out this summer.  All the seeds will be used.  It cheered me up immensely to get these lovely things in the post (instead of bills !) and I can't thank you enough, Marlene.  You are a star and I'll be writing to you soon.  Thank you !

---------------

When we went to Lidl on Wednesday for some sweets for Graham, I treated myself to some UK grown Daffodils @ 95p  They are such a happy, cheerful colour aren't they...

In a week of damp dreariness and terrible world news, what has cheered you up this week?

Have a lovely weekend everyone,
Stay safe,

Angie πŸ’—

  1. I choose not to watch the news, I don't have sufficient energy to spare with worrying. I love those socks.

  3. I was worried they might of been a bit bright for you, but on dull days they do add colour. I'm glad you liked them, good luck with the seeds.

  4. The socks are fabulous, warm and cosy. Its been cold, wet and miserable here. I did a Costco run with dil, we split things like packs of loo rolls, kitchen rolls, 80 pack box of crisps. I'm on my own this evening as daughter and OH are at Pride Park watching Derby v WBA. Friends have given Natalie their tickets as they are on holiday. I can watch what I want on TV, doing a lot of catching up on Christmas recorded shows. Xx

  6. What a lovely gift the socks look gorgeous. I am enjoying a bunch of daffodils that I got for £1 in the supermarket in the week. They are so joyful and light up the room. The sun is shining this morning so we are off out for a walk and that always makes me feel better. Take care Sue H

    1. A bit of sunshine always lifts the spirits, I find. Saturday was lovely here. I felt so much better. And, of course, the socks helped !

  7. What a lovely gift from Marlene, something warm for your feet, something warming for your tummy and something promising goodness and colour for Spring ahead.

It's nice seeing daffodils for sale in the shops isn't it, and our shoots are coming out at home too, and the Snowdrops are already flowering and looking so dainty ... that's what cheered me up this week.

    1. Yes, my gifts were so very welcome :)
I love to see the bulbs popping up with a promise of things to come, Sue, and always buy a bunch of daffs when they first appear. They are UK grown too :)
Snowdrops are so very pretty but we lost ours :0/

  9. Such a lovely gift from Marlene. The socks look so cosy and it will be fun to sow the seeds later on. Enjoy the hot chocolate drinks as we wait for the rain to stop and the sun to show its face again. 😊
I am enjoying my amaryllis starting to flower and some more rows added to my brightly coloured crochet blanket.
    Have a lovely week.

Reading Matters & Other Stuff....

The weather here has remained wet, wild and windy.  On Monday the rain eased enough for us to venture out to Dunhelm for a couple of thing...
