Thank you for all the comments on my last post. I must confess that I just haven't had time to reply to any of them, although I have read and appreciate every single one of them.
Update: No.... I didn't get my flu jab yet. There was a big queue in the little pharmacy and I didn't have time to wait. I'll try again another day.
No....I didn't get my bus pass renewed either...Gray mentioned that his pass didn't expire until 2026 so I checked mine again. Uh oh...mine expires on November 1st 2026 !!
What a numpty I am πAt least I didn't embarrass myself at the library!
Gray did need to renew his driving licence though. I had done mine about a month ago quite easily online so he decided to try it. Oh my gosh, what a nightmare! They have changed the whole process and it took AN HOUR to jump through all the hoops, even to setting up facial recognition by scanning a QR code, downloading an App etc We were really uncomfortable doing this. We checked for https and the little padlocks to check it was secure at every stage but I feel really uncomfortable about all this. We now have to await the arrival (or not!) of his new licence.
Has anyone else had experience of this new system? Is this the way we are heading for anything official?

On a lighter note, I took another batch of cards to the Hospice shop yesterday, making a total of 350 including 30 Christmas cards to see how they sell. The shop manager is planning to display them next month in their new Christmas setting....
A sample below:
These 'knitting' cards sell well so I keep adding a few to each batch....
These cards for men were made using the Hunkydory club gift but I always add extra little touches to make them more appealing...

On top of everything else, my back has been decidedly dodgy over the last few days. I've had the all-too-familiar 'electric shock' feeling when bending down to pick something up or when leaning over to brush my teeth. Painkillers have helped to take the edge off the ache and I'm hoping it will all subside once again over the next few days π€

Thanks for popping in. Do stay safe and well wherever you happen to be,
Angie π

You have to download Apps and do the whole facial recognition thing for a lot of legal things now. We had to do it when we bought our local rental property, and then again when we were closing our company down. I agree it does feel very 'dodgy' doesn't it.
ReplyDeleteOnce again your selection of cards for the hospice shop looks lovely. The Christmas display is going to sell out very quickly. Look after your back, those initial twinges are a real warning to take things easy.
It feels decidedly dodgy, Sue, I just don't trust it at all.
DeleteAnd, yes, my back is warning me off doing too much, isn't it.
I renewed my driving licence as soon as I could to ovoid the new set up, I'm pleased not to sort through the new system. Watch your back anything silly could set it going, rest when you can.
ReplyDeleteI was lucky in that I renewed mine on the old system without knowing of a forthcoming change.
DeleteThanks, Marlene, I will.
350 cards! That's Amazing!
ReplyDeleteMuch colder today so keep that back warm.
Thanks Sue :)
DeleteReally cold here today (Saturday) at just 8C. Boy, am I feeling the difference! I'm wearing layers but still popped the heating on for a short time this morning.
At least you realised before you got to the Library. I love the knitting cards. Just housework and changing the bed today. We have a feather duvet which is lovely and warm, but hard work when changing the cover, am thinking of getting the same tog but maybe polyester. Also wrapped OH's birthday presents, nothing exciting but there is chocolate. Xx
ReplyDeleteYes, Gill, polyester is so much easier to handle when changing the beds. I did ours this morning....very gingerly!
DeleteHappy birthday to your hubby! He's a Scorpio like me so chocolate will be especially welcome ! lol xx
I did the whole farce for a new license, it took ages on Monday this week.
ReplyDeleteIt arrived today !
Wow that was quick! Nothing for Graham yet but fingers crossed for next week :)
DeleteI did the whole 'download the facial recognition app, scan your passport ' palaver to claim an outstanding tax refund. Like you I found it a long-winded and anxious making business. But I got the refund!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly makes me anxious. Well done on getting your tax refund, Kirsten !
DeleteI'm glad you realized you didn't need to renew your bus pass, yet. Lovely cards!
ReplyDeleteMe too, Bless, it would have made me look even more senile than my 75 years suggests!
DeleteAnd thank you! x
Sorry about your back hope it improves quickly. Your cards are lovely as always. Regards Sue H
ReplyDeleteThank you on both counts, Sue, my dodgy back makes me feel really miserable....
DeleteThanks for the warning about driving licence renewal. Mine came in this week so now I know I’ll have to set aside some time for the new system of renewal. Your husband and I must have similar birthdays. Catriona
ReplyDeleteIt really is a frustrating system, Catriona, good luck! Gray's birthday is at the beginning of January and he didn't want to leave the whole thing to the last minute. Good job he didn't!
DeleteI don't think we have an automatic system here for our driver's licenses. We do have one for our insurance and plates that we take advantage of.
ReplyDeleteHope your experience results in the arrival of your husband's driver's.
God bless.
Fingers crossed π€
