Preparations for the 'C' Word ....

On Monday we had a few errands to run in the next village so I took the opportunity to drop another batch of cards into the Hospice shop.  The first batch of 15 Christmas cards was donated, as well as another 10 birthday ones. This brings the total up to 272 since March this year. A peek at the Christmas contribution below:

There were just 2 cards left in the basket again (both of them anniversary cards so a bit niche)  so I need to get a wriggle on ! I've made another 3 small sales on eBay recently netting £20.33 so I'm spending the money on more supplies to keep me crafting.  The adhesives are quite pricey, especially the glue tape runners which I find really useful to stick the blank inserts inside the cards neatly, and the cello bags to protect the finished card have almost doubled in price this year.  I'm spending just under £10 on 250 bags this time as it makes them a little cheaper.  Luckily, I still have a good supply of gold, silver, red and green mirri card and can die cut my own Christmas shapes.  It takes time to do but costs pennies and keeps the base costs down.

Have you started Christmas preparations yet?  Gift buying? Planning?

Our Daughter started a new job three months ago and she's been told to expect the bonus of a turkey !  It will be a tremendous help to her and we are usually invited to lunch on the big day and don't mind sampling it 😉

Anyway, thanks so much for popping in.  Do stay safe and well wherever you happen to be,

Angie  💗

  1. Your Christmas cards are lovely. Well done on your numbers of card donations, brilliant.👍 I haven't even thought about Christmas! Our eldest son has his birthday next week. Once that is over I might start thinking about things for Christmas but I do tend to leave things until much later. Take care Sue H

    1. Thanks, Sue :) Our Son's birthday is on Christmas Day but I know what you mean about waiting until your Son's birthday is over before thinking about Christmas. First things first... :)

  2. Lovely cards, you have such clever ideas.
There are so many family birthdays coming up in October and November - makes it difficult to think about Christmas yet.

    1. Hmm....yes we have a few in October & November, including my own in November which I try to forget! It does get a bit distracting :0)

  3. Your cards are lovely! My daughter painted some Christmas designs on cardstock for me to turn into cards. I haven't made the cards, yet, though. In general, I don't think about Christmas until after Thanksgiving.

    1. A painted image on a card would be absolutely lovely. Your Daughter is so talented.
Of course, we don't celebrate Thanksgiving so don't have that distraction before Christmas. It must be lovely for you, Bless.

  5. Your cards are lovely, and you are doing so well for the hospice shop, and yes they will no doubt be selling your Christmas cards well over the next couple of months. But NO, I have not started doing anything for Christmas yet, and won't be until I put my decorations up in December. I am purposefully ignoring all the Christmas things that are slowly but steadily appearing in the shops.

We seem to be wishing our lives away more and more in this fast paced world, and I have decided that I won't be joining in.

    1. Yes, that's so true. Decorations and cards are already in the shops here and Gray does the 'fingers in ears and lalala' to shut it all out 🤭
I think you are doing the sensible thing, Sue. We don't buy many actual gifts now so I don't need to think so far ahead either really, its just my cards which need planning ahead. We do tend to wish our lives away, don't we, and life is too short to do that. I will, however, need to post all the stuff to Australia in good time 🤔 The post there is so very slow 🐌
