We have had some lovely sunny days over the last week. Yes, it's been cold at night as well as first thing in the morning but, once the mist has dissipated, the sun has shone beautifully. I knew that we had some small figs on the tree but didn't really expect them to ripen .....
Doesn't it take an age to heal as you get older? 😕

As we have had such an expensive month with special birthdays and such, we didn't have a September treat so I'm hoping we can have an October one before the bad weather really sets in. I'm not sure what we can do. Maybe Dudley Zoo or Severn Valley Railway?
We have the Swindon Gardening Club meeting this Friday (£5.50 each) plus the Gardeners' Guild meeting next Tuesday (£3.00 each) so need to watch our spending this month too.

Right now I'm waiting for the heating engineer to come and service the boiler. I think we need inhibitor in the system too so I'm not sure how much it will all cost. The service alone is around £80 👀 I'll let you know how much it finally comes to.

Lovely to have some figs this late in the year, they are a completely different shape to mine so must be a different variety. Mine finished many weeks ago.

After a busy September and with a busy November looming, we are hoping for a quiet October. Hope the bruise is healing quicker.

ReplyDeleteAlan has a few figs on his tree at the moment, he's hoping they ripen before the frost gets them. Yours look perfect.
ReplyDeleteAww, your poor arm, I never bruise after blood tests etc, but I do find that I bump myself regularly and think 'I must remember how I did this one', but by the time a bruise appears I rack my brains and can't remember at all. :-)
I love figs how wonderful you have had some off your tree. It's been a good year for figs growing and ripening in the UK apparently. Where my youngest son lives in Brighton there is a huge fig tree growing against a south facing wall and he has had pounds of fruit, yummy. Your poor arm, I bruise very easily too, they take ages to fade don't they? I love Dudley Zoo my Dad used to live quite near there many years ago when he remarried a lovely lady from Dudley. My boys used to love a trip to the zoo. Nice to have something to look forward to. Take care Sue H
