I've had a niggling headache for well over a week and at the weekend it escalated to a real humdinger. No amount of paracetamol nor Ibuprofen, nor both combined have even taken the edge off, so I did what the surgery dictates and went to the pharmacy for help. I have tinnitus anyway but the ringing has got worse affecting my hearing on my left ear. The pain now radiates down the left side of my face from temple to jaw. I think I have an ear infection. The pharmacist can give antibiotics to patients...yes! but only if you are aged 1 to 17 😠so they told me to visit the surgery and fill out an appointment request form. I tootled off to the surgery only to be told I have to do it online. I lied and said I was unable to do that so the receptionist completed the online form on my behalf at 11.15am. I was told to wait for a phone call. At 4.20pm I received a text message saying that there were no appointments available today and to complete an online form at 8am tomorrow and I would be triaged for an appointment.
What are the chances tomorrow do you think?
Meanwhile, I'm popping pills like there's no tomorrow and I'm looking forward to yet another sleepless night....
What the f**k is happening to this country 😳 Sorry to swear folks but I feel dreadful 😢
Take care of yourselves,
Angie❤️
In Canada we have many of the same problems with our health care. I finally found a doctor that was willing to take me on as a patient. Since I am a new patient she is testing me constantly. Mind you that is a good thing as there is something in my lungs that she is going to keep an eye on.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Fingers crossed that it's nothing to worry about, Jackie xx
DeleteThis is awful, I hope you get to see someone very quickly today
ReplyDeleteIt's a very sad situation to reach, I hope you get help today, we have had the online consult since Covid and it does work well for us, our daughters surgery sounds much like yours, they send text later in the day, always telling daughter to take children to A&E. GP's have totally changed their roles, with pharmacist and 111, they should have more time not less.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more, Marlene.
DeleteSo sorry to hear you are suffering. Your GP sounds like ours disaster. I think it is a post code lottery. My sister in Norfolk has a wonderful GP and gets appointments easily even sees a doctor! I don't even know what my doctor looks like. It's all over the telephone if you can even get through. Hope you get it sorted soon. Regards Sue H
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your Dr's is on the same triage system that ours has just switched to. Ours is currently rife with teething problems as our elderly town population is really struggling to use it, and it keeps crashing anyway.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get the help you need soon. xx
Oh Angie, I'm really sorry to hear about your painful head and the lack of support from your pharmacy and doctors surgery. It is the worst thing to have head pain like that. I hope you can get some relief today and that you get to see the doctor.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear of your situation. Sounds very much like our surgery. I'm not hopeful that things will improve any time soon as ours has just taken on the patients from another surgery and now has 10,000 patients, admittedly a few more doctors (locums), but appointments are as rare as hens teeth! My dad had a similar problem to yours and he got sent from pillar to post with no luck actually having an appointment. He never uses the surgery but in his hour of need he was let down!
ReplyDeleteThat is awful, Mrs LH. Your poor dad x
DeleteHi Angie, I am late seeing your post. I hope you are feeling much better now and have managed to see your doctor. I finally saw my doctor today after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment. I could have seen another doctor sooner, but I wanted to see my doctor as she knows my history. She is very popular so hard to get a last minute appointment. Of course by today I was feeling a lot better. Cheers from Liz in Oz
ReplyDeleteGolly, 3 weeks is an awfully long time to wait, Liz, I hope you are feeling much better now too.
DeleteI hope you were able to get an appointment and your headache has gone away by now.
