Book Bargains and What I'm Reading Now....

Like Sue, from Eating Well on a Small Budget,  I simply can't pass a book stall without taking a peek.  Whether it's a charity shop, a supermarket charity sale table or boot sale,  I just have to check it out.  I can't even pass a bookshop, even though I can't afford to pay full price!

I did splash out £12 😲on the latest Milly Johnson book from Sainsbury's last month because I keep all of her hardbacks to read again.  I love Milly's style of writing very much......

but I paid just £1.50 from a charity shop for this one....

As you can probably tell from the photos, I like to read a couple of chapters at bedtime before I go to sleep, so it needs to be a gentle read.  Tom Hindle's book is not a gory thriller but more a psychological murder mystery in the style of Agatha Christie.  I'm really enjoying it 😊 and it doesn't adversely affect my sleep either! 😴

I enjoyed Tom's book so much that I popped into the library on Saturday and managed to track down a previous book to read next....

 Bring it on!

Has anyone else read Tom Hindle? Did you enjoy it?
I've got a Jojo Moyes on order from the library too.  There are some cracking books about right now and I want to read a lot more now that there's nothing I want to watch on TV.

Stay safe and well ,

  1. There are loads of good authors and books around. I'm using my kindle apt, choosing free to read books. I'm reading Freida McFadden, she is a gentle story teller.

  2. Thank you for the hint as Tom Hindle is an author I don't know so will be reserving the first one from the library as soon as I can. Can't reserve any at the mo as I'm up to my limit of reservations or waiting to pick up and the mobile isn't here until next week.

    1. I don't know how you get through so many books! I only reserve one at a time or I'd never finish anything!

  4. Not aware of Tom Hindle, I do like a good psychological thriller (although I don't mind blood and guts!) so I'll have a look in our library.

    1. No blood and guts in a Tom Hindle book, but a murder or two certainly :)

  6. I've never heard of Tom Hindle but I'll keep an eye out. I don't like violent novels and SF leaves me cold. I'm re- reading the Adams family stories by Mary Jane Staples at the moment, but have lots of TBR. Have a great weekend. Xx

    1. Jojo Moyes is brilliant, isn't she. I'm currently reading We All Live Here and thoroughly enjoying it.

  9. I rarely read murder or detective style books, but funnily enough the few that I have read I have really enjoyed, it's just not a genre that I think of picking up, so I have never heard of Tom Hindle. I've just started reading a book Alan bought me while we were away, one of two that he got me from different places ... one of them full price £22 ... wow, that would be 22 books off the charity book table!!

It's called Thea and Denise and is by Caroline Bond about two women that set out on a 'Thelma and Louise' style road trip. It'll be nice to read a bit of fiction for a change.

I hope you both have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend. xx

    1. I don't often read murder books either and avoid the ones written by men as they are often too graphic for my taste, but Tom Hindle got me gripped. I don't know Caroline Bond so I'll check her out, thank you. £22 for a book...wow πŸ™ƒ
Enjoy your long weekend too, you both deserve it xx
