How Many Meals? Ekeing Out The Supplies, 'Free' Stuff....

Thank you for the very helpful comments on my last post 👍  The eggs were, indeed, fine and were eaten on toast for lunch 😋

Today,  Friday 25th April, gets us closer to the end of the month and a new injection of cash in the food budget, but there are still 5 days to go until then and 5 main meals to sort out.  Yesterday, after the Spicy beanburger baps at lunchtime with our Daughter, we felt so full that we didn't want any tea other than a bowl of soup.  By 9pm we fancied a bit of cheese and crackers but there were no crackers 😕 so we ate 2 shortbread biscuits each instead.   Just as well really, at least we escaped indigestion!  Anyway, I wanted to buy crackers and apples today so did another mini shop using Nectar points.  The cake simply fell into my trolley and I left it there 😁 It was a bargain at £2 reduced from £3.50  With the current egg prices, I couldn't really make it much cheaper myself......

The shopping came to a total of £4.79,  21p under £5, and I  certainly didn't want to waste any points so bought just one red onion for 23p to make up the difference.

 Therefore £5.02 spent as follows:

Nectar points: £5  (leaving £12.50 available)
Cash: 2p  (51p left)

As we ate a hot lunch today consisting of plates of delicious veg and gravy, we won't need much for tea.  I think cheese and crackers, and a slice of cake will hit the spot.  Maybe an apple later tonight.  We have Gardeners' World and Beyond Paradise on TV so a very relaxing watch tonight 😀 ....

Any plans for the weekend?

Thanks so much for dropping in once again.  Do stay safe and well wherever you happen to be,

Angie 💗

  1. I did a smallish smart shop at Sainsburys today. Good job it was small as I ended up with a full re-scan. My fault entirely! It shows at the end what hasn't been scanned & I'd not scanned the white net bag for my loose potatoes (30p).

    1. I hate it when that happens. It's usually a re scan when I'm in a hurry. Oops 😬 to not scanning the bag. I bet you felt really guilty 😔

  3. Catching up on the washing after our few days away in The Lakes. Weather was better than expected and we had a great time. Also a large food shop is looming, I tried to use up everything in the fridge before we went, so the fridge/cupboards are bare and running low on cat food too, can't let Miss Sheva starve. Have a great weekend. Xx

    1. I'm so pleased you had a lovely time, Gill. Its always a bind to come back to washing though isn't it. Luckily the forecast is for a warm week 😎 so you can peg it all out !

  4. Aww, that poor cake tumbling into your trolley like that, thank goodness you took it home and looked after it. ;-)

I do love a good 2p shop, so well done on the onion grab.
