Home Made Goodies & Blast from the Past...

Does anyone remember Howard Drury from Central Television's gardening programmes?

Howard runs a gardening club in one of the villages close to us which we began attending last year, having found it by accident.  It's held 6 times a year; 3 in Spring and 3 in Autumn, and it's really good.  The speakers each time are varied and interesting, including Howard himself, and his wife Andrea makes and sells jams and marmalades for the McMillan cancer charity.  It costs £5.50 each to attend but in the interval there is free tea/coffee and a biscuit and you can purchase a slice of delicious home made cake for a donation 😋I can never resist.  It's for charity after all so it would be rude not to partake!......

Breakfast...is this healthy or just a necessary ingulgence? 😁

Oh boy....it tastes good 👍

Wednesday's grocery delivery was uneventful , thankfully.  I popped my head out the door to ensure the driver had not blocked Minnie's drive ( he hadn't).  All was well.  They had everything I ordered too.  My cupboards are full and I will only need to buy fresh milk and a TV guide next week. Not only surviving  but building up my Nectar points balace too 😀.  I think I'll save them up and try to get a week's free food at some point.  I'm writing down every penny spent on groceries as I  need to stay under budget this coming year

We have a funeral to attend today, so I must dash......

Thanks for popping in.  Stay safe and well wherever you happen to be,

Angie 💗

  1. Marmalade is vital for a good breakfast!

  2. Sometimes a bit of marmalade just starts the day right doesn't it. It wakes the old taste buds up while the coffee is waking up the brain. :-)

  3. My dear Dad always made the year's supply of marmalade, the nearest to his I can find is Bonne Maman, but not cheap. What a good idea to write down what you buy and budget accordingly. I spent a small fortune in Morrisons today but that included cat litter and food, fairy capsules, OH's Lavazza coffee. The fairy capsules were security tagged and the till lady was saying someone had been in the ladies toilets and swiped all the toilet rolls! What is the world coming too? Happy Easter. Xx

    1. Good grief. What is the world coming to indeed :0( Did you manage to get any 4p veg at Morrisons Gill?

What a lovely dad :) Mine couldn't make toast without burning it.

    2. I did stock up on the 4p veg, I can see lots of soup and vegetable bakes happening. Dad was a very good cook, he also made wine and beer. But things like washing, ironing and cleaning passed him by. The first time I went to clean the house after Mum died, I had to brillo pad scrub the kitchen floor. Fortunately (for me) he met and married a lovely lady . Xx

    3. Well done on the veg ! I love chunky veg soup.
As to brillo pads for the floor ...😱 I think Graham would be the same. He can put on the dishwasher and the washing machine but cant (or wont) do much else 😏
Have a lovely Easter, Gill 🐰 xxx

  4. That marmalade looks delicious! I am planning to make some lemon marmalade with my daughter's assistance this weekend.
I'm glad your grocery delivery went well. I'm getting a grocery delivery, myself, later today. :)
