The good news is that I dropped another batch of cards off at the Hospice shop, bringing the total to a satisfying 200 since the end of March this year. There were just 4 left in the basket again. As long as they keep selling, I'll keep on making them π

Not so good news? Son-in-Law has Covid again. This is the third time π
Unfortunately, they are due to go on holiday in about a week's time and, if he passes it on to the family, then the holiday is in question. Meanwhile he is being isolated in the bedroom and working from home. We dare not visit. It's a nasty strain with a razor-sore throat and cough.

The brilliant news is that our Grandson has a new job! He's been looking for a while and finally found one that he really liked the sound of. The employer was much nicer and gave him a test weld to do. They were really pleased with the quality of his work and have actually waited for him to finish his year's apprenticeship with the other company. He now has a proper contract and, on his first day, was given a full-face mask to wear when grinding, and proper PPE. Fingers crossed that he'll be safer there π€They will also be paying him more money.
We are beyond relieved π

Thanks so much for popping in. Stay safe wherever you happen to be,
Angie π
Snap…my daughter and family had Covid, last week and are due to go on holiday in a week’s time. My daughter was really ill…same with my son in law. My granddaughter, not quite as bad. And as you say, it’s a nasty strain! You feel so helpless when you can’t visit, don’t you?
ReplyDeleteGood news about your grandson!
Enjoy the week! π ( Sal’s Snippets blog)
Yes, Sal, you do feel helpless. Hopefully, your family will recover in time for their holiday.
DeleteMy Grandson is loving his new job. He actually volunteered to go in on Saturday to help them get a job out π
Two hundred cards is a brilliant achievement, well done.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your son, it does seem that Covid strikes over and over again in those that it has already weakened. :-(
And great news about your grandson, this company sounds so much better in every way. I hope it works out really well for him. It's always nice to start the day with good news, so thank you. xx
Thank you on all counts, Sue π
DeleteSo sorry for your son-in-law. I how the rest of the family stay well. It's crazy that they've stopped offering vaccines to everyone. Let alone the misery of having covid, the economic costs of lost work days, and cost of long covid are significant. My children paid £90 each to have vaccinations privately, and even then it was difficult to find somewhere to get them.
ReplyDeleteBut kudos for the card making, and great news for grandson.
Gosh £90 for the vaccine is no joke, is it. As you say, there can be an enormous economic cost to families with covid π
Delete200 Cards! that's so good.
ReplyDeleteWonderful news about your grandson - able to get away from the old employer to what sounds like a much better job.
I've not heard of any covid around here lately - thankfully - although I don't see many people so don't always get the latest news.
Thanks, Sue π Grandson is so much happier at the new place.
DeleteI thought that covid had faded away so was shocked when SiL tested positive last weeπ±
Definitely brilliant news. But sorry about covid. And yes, the card making is having a wonderful result
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that my cards are selling so well. I can't work fast enough, thanks to your help too!
Delete200 cards since March is impressive! You make some lovely cards, so it's no wonder that they sell so well.
ReplyDeleteWonderful news about your grandson getting a new job with an employer who seems to provide all the necessary protective gear and a higher pay, too.
Sorry to hear about your son-in-law getting Covid, again; hope he recovers in time to go on holiday and no one else comes down with it. Covid has not gone away, it has become endemic like the flu; occurring regularly. I am being just as cautious as I was during the pandemic, wearing a mask when out in public, not eating out in restaurants, etc., especially as we now have an official in charge of our health department who does not believe in vaccines (the least said about that, the better).
Covid hasn't gone away has it, Bless, it's a very good idea to protect yourself by wearing a mask. The least said, indeed, about the official in charge of health in your country ......
DeleteStay well x
Congratulations to your grandson, this job sounds much better all round. Sorry about your son-in-law there is quite a lot of covid about, my niece got it a couple of weeks ago she said the cough was horrid and she felt really poorly. Well done with your cards that is such a good amount raised for the Hospice. It is very hot here today even with a strong breeze off the sea. Take care Sue H
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sue. Oh, it must be lovely to have a sea breeze! I long for the smell of the sea x
