Thank you for all the very interesting comments on my last post about the NHS App. I think it seems to work well in some situations but not for booking appointments which is the true sticking point.
------------
After all the heat of last week, it cooled slightly at the weekend and we had a little, although not enough rain, certainly not enough to replenish the water butts. It did feel a little bit fresher though and a little easier to sleep.
At the aptly named Wednesday Club yesterday, I browsed the donated books for sale and found the sequel to The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. Paperbacks are normally just 25p each but this one is in such perfect, unread condition that I put 50p in the honesty box. I read the Harold Fry one about 6 or 7 years ago and enjoyed it, so I look forward to starting this one as soon as I have finished my current read 😀
At one point we had a sprinkling of rain but it didn't last long and what's a little rain when you're having fun 🙃

The last few days have been spent paying bills and sorting out our Wills. A final visit was paid to the solicitor on Monday to sign them ( and pay for them); not cheap at £468 😱 but at least we now have peace of mind. We already have Enduring Power of Attorney in place.
The next task was visiting the building society to unlock the PIN on Graham's card because he stupidly tried a third time to enter his PIN when trying to draw some cash from the Post Office 🫣 I always tell him DON'T TRY MORE THAN TWICE !!!! He often mis-remembers the number. Does he listen?....... no.....sigh......

I think that's all the news for now....
Stay safe and well wherever you happen to be,
Angie 💓
PS Did you know it's official 'Picky Bits Day' tomorrow? (Friday) 😋
What will you be having?
I had never heard of 'Picky Bits' until I started reading blogs. It perfectly describes many of our suppers... a plate with a selection of bits of salad, fruit, cheese, cold meat, pickles, bread, toast, crackers, crisps; a mix of what I can find, what I have the energy to prep, what catches my eye in the fridge! One could call it a varied diet...
ReplyDeleteMmm...that sounds perfect 👌 just how picky bits should be 😀
DeleteI loved the Queenie Hennessy book, there is a third book, Harold's wife's story, I did not enjoy that one so much, also look out for The Music Shop, which I also enjoyed. Love to have nibble food and free cakes to bring home, yum.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know there is a third book, so thank you for the tip, Marlene. I'll look out for both books now :)
DeleteWhat a lovely spread at your allotments .
ReplyDeleteThe name 'Picky Bits' makes me cringe!
Oh dear 🤣
DeleteI used to like picky bits teas and Alan still does, but now any more than three things on my plate puts me off, so I guess my picky bits plates of things could be called trios instead. :-)
ReplyDeleteI have had The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry on my shelves since it came out and shamefully have never gotten around to reading it. You've reminded me we need to think about making news wills now that we have closed our company down. Our current ones are far too complicated, holding all the details of how to close the company down etc. Hopefully the new ones will be a breeze.
We decided to make new wills after moving home 3 times since making the original ones and it was easier to start again.
DeleteI think you might like the Harold Fry book.
